Enjoy the Holiday Break
What an action-packed term we have had with so many exciting things happening in our school. We have had retreats, excursions, eisteddfods, celebrated sacraments and NAIDOC week, participated in multiple sporting events, and launched our new school uniform, not to mention all the wonderful learning happening in the classroom. Well done to all the students, staff and event coordinators for the hard work that has gone into a very successful term.
While visiting the classrooms and on the playground this week, we noticed many children looking weary and ready for a well-earned two-week break. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a relaxing and safe holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term and can’t wait to be a part of the exciting learning opportunities and events occurring at St Joseph’s during Term 3.
2024 Kindergarten Enrolment Update
Letters of offer were posted yesterday to families of children enrolling in Kindergarten for 2024. We look forward to the next exciting phase of enrolment for these children. As stated in the letter, there will be opportunities for the children to participate in Joey's Juniors (transition sessions) during Term 4. We will communicate dates and other details with families as soon as they are finalised.
New Mid-Year Enrolments
Over the last few weeks, we have interviewed over 10 new students to start with us mid-year. Thank you to all our families and parent groups who continue to welcome and support our families, new and old. We are blessed to have such a wonderful community inside the classroom and around the school. Both our recent Tell Them From Me survey and our School Review highlighted this area as an outstanding area in our school, and it is certainly something we value. We look forward to seeing all these new faces next term.
Parent - Teacher Interviews
It was great to get a chance to chat with so many parents as they arrived for their Parent/Teacher interviews this week. The interviews provide a wonderful opportunity for parents/carers to gain insight into their child’s learning and classroom experience. Thank you to all the staff for the time and energy they spent organising and hosting the interviews this week.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Early next term, staff will be unpacking the Tell Them From Me Survey recently completed by students, parents and staff. Some smaller teams have already looked at the initial data, and we are very pleased with the improvements across the school that we have seen. One of our goals in 2023 was to build more positive relationships across the school. This has been done by revamping our behaviour management policy and implementing strategies within the classroom, within the school and across the region. We have seen a significant increase in students expressing that they have positive relationships within the school.
We received 58 survey responses from parents, some of the highest response rates per capita across the region. Early unpacking of the results has given us some excellent insight into areas we can work on. However, we are very pleased with the results showing all areas for our school being very positive. We also have a good list of ideas for fundraising to take to the next P&F meeting.
Class Parent Groups
Thank you to our class parents for all the work that goes into building community inside and outside the school. We are very lucky to have such wonderful parents leading some initiatives across the school to promote positive relationships between parents and between students. Last week, the class parents organised a K-6 dinner, which was a lot of fun. This term, we have also had a men’s Bowls afternoon, class dinners and drinks, Bago Maze Day and class picnics and BBQs, along with many other “in the moment” activities. Our Class Parents promote these events through the school newsletter and compass. There are also informal class chats for those who wish to be part of them. For more information, contact your P&F Class Parent "Friendraising" representative for 2023.

Year 3 and 4 Retreat
Earlier this week, our Year 3 and 4 students travelled to St Joseph’s Wauchope to experience two concurrent retreats. Year 3’s retreat focussed on Confirmation and the Gift and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, and the Year 4 retreat focussed on “Friendship”.

Uniform Update
This term, we have sold and delivered 659 new uniform items and are waiting for more items which are on backorder, due in early next term. Thank you to all our families for your patience and support in the rollout. In a bid to keep costs as low as possible for families, the rollout has included numerous volunteer hours, and we thank everyone involved here.
Care instructions: It is always recommended to follow care instructions on any garment. Our uniform was designed to be quick-drying, which means that if you wash it and hang it overnight, it will dry. Many of our families are using a dryer, and we have confirmed with the supplier that this is a common alternative; however, like most fabrics, it will shorten the lifespan of uniforms. If using a dryer, the supplier recommends using a bag so that the shirts don’t get worn by other items, hooks, velcro, buttons or other rough fabrics. Fabrics will also fade quicker when left in the sun.
Sports Shirt Update
We have sent our sports shirt order away and are currently working on a few tweaks to where the logo is placed.
Hat update
We are also reviewing the school hat logo and hope to order a new batch of these very soon.
The uniform committee will meet on Tuesday, 18th July, at 3:15.
