Term 1 Week 7 2024
Join Us for Catholic Education Week: Celebrating Innovation and Faith
As we approach a very special time in our school calendar, I am delighted to extend a warm invitation to all our families to participate in Catholic Education Week, taking place from April 4th to April 12th. This year, we are embracing the theme of "Innovation and Faith," reflecting on the unique blend of tradition and forward-thinking that characterises our Catholic schools within the Diocese of Lismore.
Catholic Education Week is not only a celebration of our Catholic Identity but also an acknowledgment of the pivotal role our schools play within their local communities. It is an opportunity to celebrate our unique mission of enabling our students to experience the fullness of life, and to celebrate our thriving school community.
One of the key events during this week is our Kindergarten 2025 Open Information Night on Monday, April 8th at 4:30 pm. We are excited to open our doors to prospective families and share what makes our school a nurturing and innovative place for learning. Thanks to Mrs. Dedal's visits to all the local pre-schools and the wonderful support from our current school community on social media, we have already seen a fantastic response with numerous expressions of interest and enrolments.
We would be grateful if you could continue to support us by liking, sharing, and commenting on our Kindergarten 2025 Facebook posts. Additionally, if you know of anyone considering joining our school community in 2025, please make sure to tell them about the Kindergarten Open Night.
Please find an attached flyer detailing all the events and celebrations planned for Catholic Education Week. We encourage you to review it and mark your calendars for the activities you and your family would like to attend.
This week is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together in faith and innovation, to celebrate our achievements, and to look forward to the future with hope and excitement. We look forward to seeing you during Catholic Education Week and thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.
Naplan
NAPLAN week is now done and dusted as our students in years 3 and 5 diligently participated in all four tests showing lots of concentration and resilience. There will still be some catch up sessions next week for a few students who missed tests this week. Results of these tests usually come out early term 3 where parents will sent home an individual student report reflecting their child’s achievement in each of the tests against performance descriptors and comparison to the national average and school’s average. The results will be available to our school to also give overall school data for trends and patterns of achievement and growth. General school performance results are then published on the MySchools website.
Best wishes from the leadership team

We are so excited to have already begun choreographing our performance dance teams to compete in the local Manning and Port Eisteddfods this year as well as performing for our school community. This year we have three dance teams; Infants Team with Mrs Toole, Stage 2 team with Mrs Koenig and Mrs Dedal and a Stage 3 Team with Mrs Watts. Bec and Amy are also assisting.
These teams practise weekly at lunchtimes and require a commitment to additional practices and payment of a fee to cover the costs of costumes, buses and extras to be able to participate in performances. Compass notifications were sent home this week to those students who have expressed interest and have been joining in at lunchtimes so far. Please ensure you respond to this asap as costumes will need to be ordered shortly. We can't wait to give our students an amazing experience of performing on the stage and increasing skills, enjoyment and confidence through the artform of dance!
Please find below the Canteen schedule for term 1.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to assist; every minute you can help makes a massive difference.

In order for the canteen to run efficiently we need at least one helper on a Monday, and two helpers on a Friday. If you can help at all, please contact Emma Hockham at emma.hockham@lism.catholic.edu.au
Please remember you will need a current working with children's check and sign-in through the office to pick up your name badge.
Thank you
