Celebrating the Special Women in Our Lives: Mother's Day at St Joseph’s
Our Mother's Day Liturgy was a beautiful ceremony that brought together students, staff, and families to honour and appreciate the incredible women in our children's lives. The event was a touching tribute to mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures, reflecting the love and gratitude our students hold for them.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who was able to attend and participate in the celebration. Your presence made the day even more special and memorable for all involved. We are particularly grateful to the Mother's Day committee—Hayley Guffogg, Justine Reedy, Chaney Boyle, Bel Davis, Katie Barker, and Emma Hockham—for their dedication and hard work in organising the thoughtful gifts and the delicious morning tea.
We would also like to acknowledge Mrs. Carlie Dedal and Mrs. Jessica Watts for leading a beautiful Liturgy. Additionally, we appreciate all the students and staff who prepared and performed at our celebration. The performances were a highlight, showcasing the talents of our students while celebrating the special women in their lives.
As we reflect on the success of our Mother's Day celebrations, we are reminded of the strong, supportive community we have at St Joseph’s. We wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, grandmothers, mother figures, and special women in the lives of our children. May your day be filled with love, joy, and the warmth of family. Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to making our Mother's Day celebrations a success.
Be sure to check out this Mother's Day snapshot of today.
School Community Group Meeting (previously known as P & F Meeting)
We look forward to meeting with parents and carers at the upcoming School Community Group meeting, scheduled for next Wednesday, 15th May, at 5:30 pm. During the meeting, we will discuss further planning for fundraising and friend-raising events, future parent education opportunities, special school projects, and general business topics. If any parents or carers would like to add items to the agenda, please use our ‘Suggestion Box” found on our school website here: https://www.larplism.catholic.edu.au/parents-friends
Police Talks
As part of our commitment to student safety and well-being, students engage in a range of activities throughout the year. This week we welcomed Constable Wendy Hudson and Constable Tim Preston to talk with our young people about a range of topics appropriate to their developmental age. Infants spoke about safe people in their life, and how to stay safe. Stage 2 continued this theme and approached topics like Cyber Safety and Bullying and Stage 3 delved into a wide range of topics in readiness for high school. More information that was sent to stage 3 families on the stage 3 topics can be found here.
Thank you to Wendy and Tim for taking the time to talk to our students. It is lovely to hear from Wendy about how well behaved the students in our school are out in the community and to know how safe our little town of Laurieton really is.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Today our Parent Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Survey will open for your feedback. We would like to invite all parents to complete the survey, as we value the role of parents and carers within our school community. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph’s Laurieton. In the past it has guided the school to look at uniforms, resourcing, areas of need and given wonderful suggestions to improve.
Our aim is to have at least 60 families complete the survey. If we reach that target we will have a reward for all the students.
To complete the survey, please click here.
STUDENT SURVEY
During week 3, all students in years 4-6 will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey during regular school hours. All responses are completely anonymous. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Please see more information here.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Our student leadership model is proving to be a great success with the input from our School Representative Council being used to improve the school and address concerns, including how we can follow our school behaviour expectations better.
Our Mission leaders also launched our Winter Appeal which will culminate in a Pyjama Day on Wednesday 3rd July. On this day students bring warm socks, slippers or food to donate to our local St Vincent De Paul who then distribute these items to the needy in the community.
Best wishes from the leadership team

Stage 1
On Wednesday, Jenna and Olivia from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council visited Year 1 and Year 2 to talk about our precious resource, water, as part of our Science unit this term. Jenna took us on a virtual tour of the council's facilities at Wauchope and explained how water comes to our homes. Jenna demonstrated water filtration to show us how the council's water facilities filter and treat water.
Thursday in Kindergarten
It was lovely to have some sunshine today after so many cloudy days; Kindergarten took the time to do some learning outside.
