Catholic Educators Leaders’ Gathering
We are proud to announce that our school was represented at this week’s Catholic Educators Leaders’ Gathering in Port Macquarie. This event was attended by Diocesan Principals and Catholic Office School Leaders. Our representatives, Mrs Maria Wilson and Mrs Fiona Hayward, showcased some of our innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement and leadership.
Maria presented our new Student Leadership Model, designed to empower our students by giving them more responsibility and a stronger voice within our school community. While Fiona, highlighted the success of the "$20 Boss" program, an entrepreneurial initiative that encourages students to start their own small businesses with an initial investment of just $20.
Maria and Fiona’s presentation not only reflected the hard work of our teachers and students but also highlighted how these initiatives fostered a passion for learning and community involvement among our students.
The feedback from the Leaders' Gathering was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing interest in learning more about how these initiatives could be implemented in their own schools.
School Photos
Next Wednesday, we will have our annual school photos. Please see how to order below.
To ensure we look fantastic, please ensure your child is wearing their correct uniform, including all black shoes with white ankle-length socks (a few centimetres visible above the shoe). As we phase out the old uniform by the end of this year, please have your child wearing their new uniform. If you need support with this, please contact the office.
More uniform details can be found here: https://www.larplism.catholic.edu.au/school-uniform
Staff photos will be taken before school, if you don’t need to drop off early, we would appreciate your child being dropped off after 8:45am that morning. We usually start with Kindergarten photos (to keep the children as clean as possible). Sibling photos are taken only of those children who have pre-ordered and usually occur during recess. Please call the office if you have any concerns for the day.
Website Update
A few weeks ago, Callum from Lenshead Photography was engaged to take a range of promotional photos to update our website and utilise them in other school promotions. The results were outstanding, and a massive thank you to all the families for ensuring their children looked wonderful.
Sacrament of Reconciliation & First Communion
Last Sunday, Iggy made his First Reconciliation and First Eucharist before his family travels. Congratulations Iggy.
Next week our Year 4 students will make their First Reconciliation on Thursday 13th June at 5pm and then make their First Communion on Sunday 23rd June at 9am at St Peter the Fisherman. We are looking for some extra choir helpers for both events but most of all we would love as many family and friends of these students to come to celebrate the Sacrament of First Communion followed by morning tea in the Parish Hall.
Please pray for:
Best wishes from the leadership team
Wellbeing and Behaviour Expectations
Keep Calm and Be Kind
In line with our 3R Behaviour expectations, being Respectful, Responsible and Resilient, this is our third week focusing on remaining Calm and Kind, particularly during our games or when things are not going the way we hoped.
We are trying to remember to use strategies that can be applied if we feel angry or frustrated.
Strategies such as:
- taking a deep breath
- walking away
- counting to ten
- talking to a trusted friend or adult
Then always trying to remain positive and kind to others. Please discuss and remind your children of the strategies that they could use.
Students who consistently show they are being Resilient by remaining Calm and being Kind, have been acknowledged by receiving ‘Calm cards’. All of the ‘Calm cards’ went into a raffle draw at Monday's assembly with our lucky winners receiving a $2 canteen voucher.
We will continue working hard to all get ‘Calm cards’ this week and have another raffle draw next week.
Good luck keeping calm and kind!

NCCD
At the conclusion of this term, schools across Australia are required to submit documentation for the NCCD. Please refer to the attached flyer outlining what the NCCD is and the process schools follow.Hello everyone,
As part of the deadly news for this week, I would like to reflect on Reconciliation Week, which took place on the 27th of May to 3rd of June. Reconciliation Week can be a really sad time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities. It can also be a time of great opportunity, where we as a school community can come together, ‘Now More Than Ever’, to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, staff, and community as well as acknowledge and reflect on Australia’s history. Throughout this week, I was very fortunate and grateful to our teachers, support staff and students for allowing me to visit each of their classes and discuss Reconciliation Week and why we celebrate it.
Within these visits, each class had the chance to participate in a yarning circle, where each member had the opportunity to share their ideas and perspectives of Reconciliation Week and what it means to them. As an Indigenous person, I was blown away by the level of empathy, respect, consideration and understanding from our staff and students who participated during these yarning sessions. Students then participated in flag making and sorry hands activities where we got to explore the meanings of the colours on our Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, and because Australia is such a multicultural country, we explored how other cultures say sorry as well.
As a school, students and staff participated in painting their hands and applying them to our Reconciliation banner. The paint colours are symbolic of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flag colours and each hand was symbolic of our shared commitment to supporting reconciliation within our school. I would like to extend a warm thanks to the many staff and students who participated in these activities during Reconciliation Week.
Thank you.

Polding Cross Country
On Wednesday Dean from Year 3 represented the Diocese of Lismore at Polding trials for Cross Country. Dean did an amazing job finishing 21st place. We are all so proud of you Dean.
Squash
Over the weekend, Charlise from Year 6 played in a squash tournament. Her team managed to come away with the U13 team's green shield and the U15 team's green shield, which was such a wonderful achievement. Declan had a lovely weekend being a team mascot and also getting to play a few games himself. Congratulations, team Dollery.

Stage 1
Stage 1 explored how our waterways are connected by engaging in a Science investigation. They added “contaminants” of oil, food colouring and pepper to simulate how pollutants affect our rivers and lakes. They observed the contaminants moving along the egg carton and reflected on real life pollutants they have seen in our local waters.
