2025 Kindergarten Enrolment Interviews Update
It has been a pleasure meeting the children and parents at the 2025 Kindergarten Enrolment interviews over the past few weeks. They are certainly a delightful group of children, and we are looking forward to welcoming them into our school community. We will be sending out letters of offer to the families of children enrolling in Kindergarten for 2025 next week. We look forward to the next exciting phase of enrolment for these children. As mentioned in the letter, there will be opportunities for the children to participate in Joey's Juniors (transition sessions) during Term 4. We will communicate dates and other details with families as soon as they are finalised.
Athletics Champions Update
Congratulations to Logan Higgins who was named 2024 Senior Boys Athletics Champion and Zarli Jolley who was named 2024 Senior Girls Athletics Champion. They both showed great resilience and poise as we looked into the results to correct the error last week. We had a special presentation today at school.
Sacrament of First Communion
Congratulations to the students who made their first Holy Communion on Sunday and to all the families who came to support them. It was a wonderful occasion.
Family Faith Night
We are excited to hold our First Family Faith Night on Saturday night. We have over 60 people attending. If you missed out, we hope to hold one each term so please keep an eye out for that. For Families who have returned their RSVP, a separate compass has been sent to you with further detail.
Thank you to Jacob and Jaz who have been doing a wonderful job with our students in Faith.
Mr Galvin’s Appraisal
On Tuesday next week, a panel will be talking to staff and parents for Mr Galvin’s Principal appraisal. Thank you to the parents who completed the survey and to those who volunteered to speak with the panel. The Library will be used for this process and therefore uniform hours will be moved to Wednesday. Thank you for the support.
Sami Bayly - Author/Illustrator Visit
Thank you to the School Community Group who have organised Sami Bayly to come and work with all students next Wednesday. We can’t wait to hear about the process of writing and illustrating a book and the chance to learn some new artistic skills. Parents are welcome to attend the 1:30-2:30 session with our senior students.
Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal
Next Wednesday is also our Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal. Each year we support the needy in the Camden Haven community by donating food (soups, cereals, pantry items), blankets and this year they really need warm socks. These item are delivered to St Vincent de Paul who hand it out to our community for free.
Children wear their pyjamas (usually with a shirt in case they get hot) and closed in shoes. Some students wear dressing gowns or oodies too.
Mid Semester Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews
Our Semester One reports for all students will be released today and are available via your Compass App. As detailed in previous newsletters, it is important to know that our reporting format has changed due to meeting the new requirements in the Catholic Schools Office Assessment and Reporting Practices for 2024 based on National Agreements and legislation. Importantly, you will notice that:
-There is no overall grade for any Key Learning Area. Students progress is indicated on the common grade scale (or descriptors for Kindergarten) of the knowledge and skills within each KLA.
-Student Engagement for each Key Learning Area is now given as either Commendable, Consistent or Needs Support
-Comments are generated using syllabus language, some of which is quite technical, and you may like to seek clarification or further explanation of these at your parent-teacher meeting
-There is no General Comment. Rather, students' learning and social behaviours are detailed in the Learner Profile comments.
This new reporting format is intended to allow for specific and consistent reporting of your child’s achievement across the curriculum. We understand that this is different to how we have reported in the past and as such, we have allowed a longer Parent Teacher Interview time slot (15 minutes) per student to give you a bit of extra time to have a collaborative conversation for further information. Please ensure you book into this before next week via Compass.
If you need assistance viewing your child’s report or to book an interview, please contact the office as soon as possible. For more general information about what your child’s report contains, please watch the video below.

Kindergarten Museum of Me
Well done, Kinder. We are so proud of all the hard work you have been doing.
This term our kindergarten students have been learning about the properties of materials and how to choose appropriate materials to build objects for a purpose. Over the past two weeks, students have been engaged in a design session inspired by "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." With guidance, they designed and built new chairs for Baby Bear using materials like popsticks, straws, tape and paper. They explored size, strength, and comfort, adding personal touches and decorations. The session ended with a fun showcase where each child's chair was tested and celebrated, helping them develop their problem-solving skills and resilience in learning. Overall, the children did an excellent job and I'm very much looking forward to more great experiences together!
