Term 2 Week 10 2024
As we conclude an eventful Term 2 at our school, I wish to reflect on the past week's wonderful activities and extend my best wishes for a joyful holiday break.
The week began with our Parent-Teacher Interviews. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff for their hard work and to all parents who engaged in discussions about their child's progress. Your involvement is essential to our students' success.
On Tuesday, I underwent my Principal Appraisal conducted by the Catholic Schools Office. I am grateful for the feedback and support from our staff and parents, and for those who met with the appraisal panel. Everyone’s contributions are invaluable to my leadership development as we strive to enhance our school and maintain a supportive environment for all students.
Wednesday brought warmth to our school with Pyjama Day, supporting our Winter Appeal. Thanks to the generous donations of blankets, food, and socks, which will provide much-needed support to St Vincent De Paul for the homeless.
We were also fortunate to have Sami Bayly, a talented illustrator and author, conduct drawing workshops with our students. A special thank you to Chaney Boyle for organising this event and to the School Community Group for funding this wonderful initiative.
Additionally, we welcomed Nardja Davies Carter, a local Indigenous artist, who initiated our art partnership with our Indigenous students. We eagerly anticipate continuing this enriching cultural program into Term 3.
Please note that today is the last day of the term, as all staff will be engaged in a spirituality day on Friday. I wish each of you a restful and enjoyable holiday break. May this time off provide you with opportunities to relax, recharge, and enjoy precious moments with your families.
Warm regards,
Rick Galvin

Family Faith Night
Last Saturday Night our families gathered in the church and Parish hall for a family faith night. After the students led our readings and offertory at Mass, we ventured to the Parish hall where the students engaged in warm up games before they wrote and led our Grace prayer. We then all shared a meal and while mums and dads mingled, the children worked on creating a play based on the evening’s Gospel which they performed to the parents with a twist.
We had a fabulous night and I’d like to thank all the families for participating in the night and for everyone for pitching in to help with all aspects of the evening. We hope to run a night like this each term, including having our choir lead the singing at mass.

Winter Appeal
On Wednesday we were blown away by the donations families sent in to help those in need in the community. It was great weather to be in our Pyjamas and I would like to thank the Mission leaders for all their work in leading this initiative.

Sami Bayly Visit
A massive thank you to Sami Bayly for her three wonderful presentations on Wednesday. The students had a wonderful time learning about weird and wonderful animals, learning about authoring and illustrating and also drawing their own creations.
Sami will be presenting the Port Macquarie Library during the school holidays, and if families are interested, it will be a different presentation from the school one. You can still order her books online (postage required).
NAIDOC Day
We are busy preparing a special NAIDOC Day for Wednesday, July 31st. Josh has organised lots of activities and games, and students will be able to wear Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Colours.
Families are welcome to attend starting at 10:30 with a liturgy and activities starting at 11:45am.
