Speech and Drama Eisteddfod
Last weekend, we had approximately 40 students take part in the Speech and Drama Eisteddfod in Port Macquarie, with many students entering multiple categories. Mrs Toole and Mrs Egan have been working in their lunchtimes for many months to help these students prepare and we are delighted with their amazing performances, of which we will see a few in the coming showcase. Congratulations to all our students and their support crew at school and at home for representing the school so well! (keep reading the newsletter for more photos)
Uniform
We have been impressed with our students in the way they have been following our school expectations and wearing their uniform with pride. Students were reminded about jewellery expectations at Monday’s assembly, and we have seen a huge improvement here. In particular, only one set of earrings worn in the conventional hole and the removal of additional jewellery like bracelets and necklaces. More information can be found on our website. https://www.larplism.catholic.edu.au/school-uniform
School Hours
Please be reminded that the school supervises children from 8:30am. Children should not be dropped off before this time as there is no active supervision in place. ASPIRE OOSH provides a wonderful and affordable service if you require longer hours for your child.
Creative Arts Showcase
Costumes, choreography and clever creativity are all coming together for our wonderful performances next week! There are still seats for our 12pm Matinee show on Wednesday and 3:30pm afternoon show on Thursday so please invite your friends, relatives and neighbours along! Please remember that adults can purchase a sausage sandwich for dinner, and we hope to have the coffee van available for drink purchases as well. It is extremely important that children attend school (unless unwell) on Monday and Tuesday, as well as these days as, we will be running important rehearsals.
In other Showcase news, we were very privileged to have our ex student and proud Birpai young woman Charlotte Miller (Charlie) have permission to come along and teach our Primary Indigenous students traditional Aboriginal language. We successfully recorded a very special Acknowledgement of Country that we will present at our Showcase next week. Additionally, all our Indigenous students have also had the opportunity to learn traditional Aboriginal dance with Stevie D. The students will also perform at the Showcase. This has all been a significant and enriching process for our students and we extend our gratitude to Charlie and Stevie D for assisting us with this.
We can’t wait to perform for our whole school community next week for what will be a fun, entertaining and enriching learning experience for every one of our students.
Best wishes from the leadership team
