Term 4 Week 1 2024
Welcome back to all our families after the school break. We hope everyone had an opportunity to relax and enjoy some family time. It’s hard to believe that we are already in Term 4 - how quickly the year has flown by!
This term is set to be an exciting one, filled with many activities and events that promise to enrich our school community and create lasting memories for our students and school community. We kick off with an exciting weekend as our school choir will perform at the Camden Haven Show this Sunday at 11:30 am. We also have a school promotion stall, so come along and say hello when you visit the show. Best of luck to all our students participating with entires in the arts, crafts, produce and other exhibits.
Next Monday, our Stage 2 & 3 students will participate in the Todd Woodbridge Cup Regional Final. Additionally, we are hosting Parent Puberty Education Workshops on Tuesday afternoon and evening. This a great opportunity for parents to gain valuable insights in guiding their children through this significant phase of life. Babysitting will be available and we encourage you to refer to the flyer below for more details and to register.
Please also stay tuned for other future events such as Safety Day, Summer Sport Trials, The Gruffalo Theatre Show and Socktober. We encourage you to keep an eye out on your Compass notifications and our school newsletter for updates on these upcoming events.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Jack Kinder who joined our school community this week. The Kindergarten students were thrilled to have another friend to play with. Thank you to all our families who make our school such a welcoming place.
We look forward to another successful term together at Joey’s.Best wishes from the leadership team

Operations Christmas Child
Thank you to everyone who was able to contribute to Operation Christmas Child. Every donation is a very special blessing for the children who will receive these boxes at Christmas. We pray for these children and their families that they find the joy, hope and love of Jesus in their lives.
The gift of giving is a vey special one but unlike Christmas morning, we do not get to see the smiles of these children when they open their box. To see some videos or children opening their boxes from around the world click here.
Socktober
Our Mini Vinnies team and all of year 6 will be preparing for Socktober on 31st October. On this day children wear crazy (odd/coloured/different) socks and bring a gold coin donation.
Year 6 are looking for donations of old socks (holes and all), plastic bags and string. This can be dropped off at the office or the year 6 classroom.
Why? Stay tuned for next week’s newsletter…
Knitting Nanas (and Pas)
This week, our Knitting Nanas completed more headbands that will be donated to the PMBH cancer unit. The completed headbands have been entered into the Camden Haven Show if you would like to have a closer look, and we will wrap up our last session of Knitting Nanas on Tuesday, October 29th. We have loved not only learning how to knit (for a great cause) but also getting to know some of the wonderfully wise people in our Parish and community.
Lids For Kids
Our stewardship leaders continue to collect lids for “Lids for Kids”. Lid can be dropped into the bucket near the canteen or to the office.
The Not-For-Profit Lids4Kids project was founded in 2019 as a nationwide 100% volunteer project to rescue plastic bottle lids from landfill to benefit the environment and to partner with new and existing plastic recycling workshops to make products to benefit kids.

A Parent's Guide to Puberty
Dear Parents,
As we navigate the complexities of raising our children in today’s world, one topic that often brings both curiosity and concern is puberty. This natural phase of development is not only a time of significant change for our children but also an opportunity for us as parents to engage in meaningful conversations.
In my personal experience I have found it is never too early to be prepared to have this conversation with our kids, and when I discovered Michelle Mitchell's Girls Guide to Puberty it was a real game changer for my family. It is a book that was easy enough for my child to read, and refer back to it as a new change happens.
I am so excited for the upcoming workshop and that we cannot only arm parents with information but also provide them with this invaluable resource, I urge all parents no matter how young or old your child is to attend, they grow up so quickly and it is here before you know it!
