Celebrating World Teachers' Day
Today marks a special occasion on our calendar-World Teachers' Day. This day is dedicated to appreciating and recognising the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the futures of our young learners. At Joey's, we are incredibly fortunate to have a team of dedicated and passionate educators who commit themselves daily to educate, encourage, and support our students in countless ways.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to the School Community Group for providing coffee and morning tea today. It was a wonderful way to show appreciation for our staff, reflecting the strong community spirit that makes Joey's a remarkable place.
Camden Haven Show
Our school community was proudly represented at the local Camden Haven Show last weekend. We had a successful promotional stand, choir performance, and many entries in the arts and crafts pavilions. It was also lovely to see and hear about individual families and students competing in some of the other events too. We are a school community of many talents and gifts!
A huge thank you to the parents and students who supported our school on the day and a special thank you to these parents who helped set up and run the promotional stall; Aaron Jackson, Emma Hockham, Brett McDonald, Catherine Dollery and Racheal de Vries. Thank you also to our generous staff who were able to prepare and attend the event to support our school.
Todd Woodbridge Cup
A wonderful day of Tennis for our Stage 2 and 3 Teams was had on Monday at the Todd Woodbridge Tennis Regional Finals. Our Stage 3 Team were an extremely close runner up with only 7 points overall difference. Our Stage 2 team were the overall winners and have been invited to compete in the State Finals on 18th October!!!
Congratulations to all players on the day for your great skill, determination and beautiful sportsmanship! Hopefully, you may have caught us on the local news, and we will also feature in the Camden Haven Chronicle soon. See the news link below:

For those on the stage 2 winning team, a Google form has been sent, and a Compass event consent form will be sent shortly.
Parent Assembly Puberty Workshops
We are extremely grateful to our Parent Assembly Representatives, Emma Hockham, Justine Reedy, and Hayley Guffogg, for their outstanding organisation of the "A Parents' Guide to Puberty" workshop sessions.
A special thank you goes to Janita Thomson, our Diocesan Lead Family School Partnership Officer, who provided attending parents with practical tools, age-appropriate strategies, and tips for fostering open, positive discussions about puberty with their children. We also extend our gratitude to all the staff members who assisted with babysitting services during the sessions.
School Community Group Meeting
We look forward to meeting with parents and carers at the upcoming School Community Group meeting, scheduled for next Monday, 28th October, at 6:00 pm. During the meeting, we will discuss further planning for fundraising and friend-raising events, future parent education opportunities, special school projects, and general business topics. If any parents or carers would like to add items to the agenda, please use our ‘Suggestion Box” found on our school website.

Temporary Change in Year 4 Teaching Staff
Mr. Mick Marshall will be on medical leave from Monday, October 28th, to Friday, December 6th. We wish him a successful surgery and a speedy recovery, and we look forward to welcoming him back following his leave. During his absence, Ms. Eliza Darlington, one of our regular casual teaching staff will be stepping in to cover Year 4. We are confident that she will ensure a seamless transition for the students during this period.
Best wishes from the leadership team

Socktober 2024
Next Thursday, 31st October, our Year 6 Leaders will be running a soccer shootout competition for Socktober for the students of St Joseph's Laurieton. Please wear odd-coloured or different socks and bring a gold coin donation. (Normal sports uniform and enclosed shoes too.)
Our goal is to raise $300.
We would love it if you could help us reach our goal. The money raised is going to children in Mongolia. Watch the video below.
Exuro
On Tuesday, Yasmin, Adrijana, Gideon, Jordy, and Charlie from Year 5 attended the 'Exuro' discipleship faith formation day at the Youth Hub. The day was inspired by the biblical quote, "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
Throughout the day, our students connected with peers from the area and the Year 10 Ministry class at Regional College. They engaged in meaningful discussions about their faith and explored what it means to be a disciple of Christ. The experience allowed them to share their insights and deepen their understanding of following Jesus. It was a valuable opportunity for growth and connection.
Stage 2 Science
We are learning to describe how contact and non-contact forces affect an object’s motion. This week students in Years 3 & 4 explored the concept of Friction through hands-on experiments.
