School Community Group Meeting Update
We are pleased to share an update from our final School Community Group meeting of the year, which took place this week. We had a fantastic turnout both in person and online, thanks to the livestream organised by Mrs. Alfina Jackson.
During the meeting, we discussed several important topics that will shape our activities and initiatives in the coming year. Highlights included the success of the Parent Assembly-led Parent Education Sessions and brainstorming for future sessions in 2025. We also explored various options for the beginning-of-the-year family night and discussed potential fundraising ideas for 2025. Additionally, we sought feedback on the recent changes to how we communicate events to parents via the Compass Platform. We will send out a detailed overview of the discussion via Compass next week.
We are incredibly grateful for the active participation and dedication of all parents and carers who have organised and volunteered at events and celebrations throughout the year. As a token of our appreciation, we would like to invite you to an Appreciation Night at The Laurieton Hotel on Monday, November 25th, at 6 p.m. This event will be a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate our collective achievements and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation together. We will send further details and RSVP next week. Please save the date.
Farewell Josh
Our Indigenous Education Worker, Josh Wright, will be finishing up at Joey's today. During his time with us, Josh has been an asset to our school, working with our Indigenous students to achieve their cultural goals, integrating cultural education into the classroom, and collaborating with our teachers to organise and celebrate significant Indigenous events, such as NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week. We extend our best wishes to Josh in all his future endeavours.

The Gruffalo
On Wednesday, all our Infants students enjoyed the stage Production of ‘The Gruffalo’, where the book came to life through acting, singing, dancing and visual effects. The students laughed, clapped and were so engaged throughout the performance showing their best audience manners and enjoyment.
This year we have taken all students from K-6 across our school to see a high quality professional Theatre Show both at the Glasshouse and The Manning Entertainment Centre. We are so fortunate to be able to offer these Theatre experiences that not only covers Art appreciation outcomes and Literacy in our curriculum but also fosters an enjoyment and inspiration for the Arts. These excursions have been provided this year at no additional cost to our families.
Socktober
Yesterday, our school participated in Socktober, raising funds for Catholic Mission and the children they support in Mongolia. Year 6 created sock balls out of your donations of odd socks, strings, and scraps and led each class through a soccer shootout.
Well done to our Year 6 leaders and all the students for a successful Socktober. We raised $237 and had a wonderful day. To learn more, watch this video.
Best wishes from the leadership team
