A Big Thank You for My 60th Birthday Surprise!
I was incredibly grateful for the wonderful surprise 60th birthday assembly on Tuesday! A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff and students for the fantastic song and dance performances from each class – I truly enjoyed every single one. To our thoughtful parents and carers, your kind birthday wishes were deeply appreciated.
The celebrations made my day so special. While some of those past photos certainly brought back memories (and perhaps a slightly different hairstyle or two!), the joy and effort that went into the assembly were truly heartwarming.
I feel incredibly blessed to be the principal of such a wonderful and supportive school community. Thank you all for making me feel so appreciated.
Warm regards,
Rick
Welcome back to Term 2
We hope all our families had a restful and enjoyable holiday break. As we begin Term 2, we are excited to welcome back our students and families to what promises to be an action-packed term, filled with engaging learning opportunities and fun school celebrations. We want to extend a warm welcome to the Silva family, who have joined us this term: Madison in Kindergarten and Catarina in Year 2. We hope they settle into our school community well.
Staff Professional Learning: Focus on Mathematics, Curriculum, and Wellbeing
Our staff engaged in essential professional learning on the last day of Term 1 and the first day of Term 2, while students enjoyed additional holiday time. This learning included rolling out a new Mathematics Program targeting the fluency of basic math facts and concepts, called The Number Fluency Program for K-6.
Additionally, we delved into research on a knowledge-rich curriculum and how it relates to our new Creative Arts and Science curriculum, which is being introduced next year and supported by our system's focus on learning and teaching. We also took time to review our Behaviour Management Policy, prayer practices across the school, and some mandatory ‘Well at Work’ practices.
Thank you to our families for accommodating our time so we can focus on this professional learning for staff. Our next Pupil-free day will be the final day of this term, Friday, 4th July.
ANZAC Day March
We are incredibly proud of our school community's participation in the ANZAC Day March last Friday. Despite being near the end of the holiday period, we had a significant turnout of students. It was wonderful to come together as a community to honour the servicemen and women who have fought for our country and peace worldwide. A huge thank you to all staff, parents, and carers who supported this event. Special mentions go to our Year 6 School Captains, Tomas Simmonds and Yasmin Cain, who led our school in the procession and laid the wreath on behalf of our school.

ANZAC Day Commemorative Liturgy
This Wednesday, we hosted a school liturgy to commemorate ANZAC Day, attended by Mr. Buster Beatty from the Laurieton RSL Branch. Buster’s contributions, particularly his reading of the Ode to Remembrance, significantly enriched the ceremony. We commend all students for their respect and reverence during this meaningful prayer service. We also thank Mr. Marshall, the Year 4 students, and the Year 6 leaders for their efforts in organising and leading the liturgy.
Our School Shines Bright at the Service of Light Ceremony
This week, in the joyous spirit of the Easter season, our school community came together on Tuesday for a special 'Service of Light” ceremony. Continuing the celebration of Christ's resurrection, reminiscent of the Easter Vigil, the ceremony was a truly moving experience for all.
Each student and staff member held a lit candle, symbolising the light of Christ. During the service, a moment of quiet reflection encouraged everyone to consider how they can share their unique light and positive influence with the world around them. The sight of so many candles glowing together created a powerful and unifying atmosphere.
It was a beautiful reminder of the hope and renewal that Easter brings, and a call for each of us to be a source of light in our own way. Thank you to all the students and staff who participated in this meaningful ceremony.
