A Heartfelt Thank You and Prayer for Our Community
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reflect on the recent school closures due to the severe weather events this week, I am deeply grateful for the minimal impact we have experienced locally. We are also filled with compassion and sorrow for our neighbouring communities who have been so heavily impacted by the flooding. I extend a heartfelt thank you for the support and understanding shown by our parent community in keeping your children at home for most of the week, while we ensured the safety and wellbeing of our whole community was at the centre of this decision making in such unpredictable times.
In the face of adversity, our faith calls us to stand in solidarity with those affected by the floods in our surrounding communities. We lift our hearts in prayer for all who have been impacted:
"O God, our refuge and strength, in times of sudden disaster, crisis, or chaos, surround us now with your grace and peace. We pray for all who are suffering as a result of this flood, that they may find comfort in your compassion. We ask for wisdom and courage for those who are working to rescue and rebuild, and for the gift of patience and generosity as we support the communities affected by these challenging times. May the waters subside and your healing grace touch all who have been affected.
We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen."
If any families have been impacted directly or indirectly, we encourage you to reach out to us so that we may support you and your child in any way we can. We hope that next week we will return to greater normality and that the sun will begin to shine through. All scheduled events next week are still planned to go ahead. Please continue to check Compass for any Events that need consent, and all upcoming dates are also provided above.
We will hopefully look forward to all of our students returning to learning at school each day next week. However, following DLCS directives, we will need to confirm this via Compass on Sunday in case there are any further unpredicted weather impacts over the weekend.
With gratitude and blessings,
Jess Koenig.

Tell Them From Me Survey
Last week, our Parent Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Survey opened for your feedback. We want to invite all parents to complete the survey, as we value the role of parents and carers within our school community. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph’s Laurieton. In the past, it has guided the school to look at parent education, resourcing, and areas of need and given wonderful suggestions to improve.
Our aim is to have at least 60 families complete the survey. If we reach that target, we will have a reward for all the students.
