What's Been Happening

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Tuesday, is typically marked by Christians as a day of feasting before the start of Lent — which comes with 40 days of fasting. Today our Year 6 Mission leaders prepared pancakes for all the classes!

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. For the next 40 days Christians around the world focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving as they prepare for Easter. Everyone is marked with an ash cross made from burning the Palm Sunday plans from last year.

Theatre Excursion

On Wednesday, we took all of our very enthusiastic Infants students up to the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie to view the stage production of Eric Carle’s stories titled “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. The children watched with much delight as the popular children’s stories came to life on stage through superb puppetry, stage effects, movement, music and acting. This experience supports our learning in Creative Arts; appreciation as well as visual arts and literacy. We look forward to taking our Stage 2 students to another theatre production in May (details to come) and we are working on organising a special theatre experience for Stage 3 soon after.
