Leadership Report

This week we have farewelled Mr Galvin as he has jetsetted across to the other side of the world on his much deserved holiday and faith renewal experience. I am pleased to be stepping into his role for the rest of this Term as acting Principal and we look forward to hearing of his adventures upon his return at the beginning of Term 3. Please don’t hesitate to make contact with me should you have anything I can help with during this time.

We also welcomed our new leader to our Catholic church; Pope Leo, and will keep him in our prayers as he leads the world in faith and peace. We also have welcomed some new students and families to our school community, Nate Bliss in Year 4 and Ray Huckle in Year 5. We pray that they will have a successful and enjoyable year ahead with us.

On Friday, our year 4 students participated in their First Sacrament of Reconciliation after midday Mass. We also pray for these children that this special sacrament will strengthen and renew their faith. Our First Communion reflection evening will be held on Wednesday 28th May at 5pm. These students will attend with their parents to learn more about the Sacrament as well as the processes for the day.

Save the Date - Family Mass and Shared Dinner

Put it in your calendar! We are looking to hold another Family Mass and Shared Dinner on Saturday, 14th June at 5pm. The format of the night is yet to be confirmed, but our Family Mass and Dinner evenings are always popular with our families and supports Christian Families to connect while also supporting our students who are learning about their faith. The night begins with 5pm Mass, followed by dinner from 6-8pm. Look out for more details next week.

Tell Them From Me Survey

Today our Parent Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Survey will open for your feedback. We would like to invite all parents to complete the survey, as we value the role of parents and carers within our school community. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph’s Laurieton. In the past it has guided the school to look at parent education, resourcing, areas of need and given wonderful suggestions to improve.

Our aim is to have at least 60 families complete the survey. If we reach that target we will have a reward for all the students.

League Gala Day

With all the wet weather, it has been disappointing to have our League Day for Primary students cancelled on Tuesday. Fingers crossed we can get another date soon.

Best wishes from the leadership team
