Calling all budding chess masters in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6! Our new lunchtime Chess Club is kicking off, and there’s a spot for everyone — whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting to learn.
Advanced Players: Wednesdays at recess in the Year 5 classroom
Beginners & Learners: Thursdays at recess in the Year 5 classroom, with mentoring from advanced players
We’re also looking to expand our collection of chess sets. If any families would like to donate a set, it would be greatly appreciated!
Come and see Mrs Peck to join the St Joey’s Check-Mates, and sharpen your strategic thinking!

The Port Macquarie Speech and Drama Eisteddfod is upon again. It is always a friendly and fun experience for all competitors, learning so many new skills and gaining so much confidence in presenting to an audience. It is held at Regional College on the 5th- 7th of September (noting that Sunday is Father's Day). The Syllabus is now available, with entries closing on the 28th July. Those who have entered it before should have received this year's syllabus in an email. For those who haven’t, it is attached here.
If your child would like to enter into any individual sections, please refer to the Syllabus and enter them into their sections for their grade. Then, please let me know which individual sections you’ve entered them into so I can support them at school. If you have any questions about the sections, send me an email at leah.toole@lism.catholic.edu.au
If your child attends Drama club at school and would like to enter into group sections, you will be sent more information on this and they will be entered under our school.
Yours in Drama,
Leah Toole
