On Tuesday, our Year 4 students travelled to St Joseph’s Regional College for ‘Accendere’, a retreat created for our students based on friendship. Accendere means “to illuminate” or “to turn on the light”. It is the first of the yearly retreats designed by our Lismore Diocese to support students in their faith. In years 5 and 6, students are welcomed to participate in Exuro and Incitare, and these retreats continue into high school.
Our students had a wonderful day, joining with our other St Joseph’s Schools; Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Regional College Year 9 students, who led the day.
Book Parade 2025: A Celebration of Adventure and Imagination!
Our 2025 Book Parade was a spectacular celebration of stories, creativity, and adventure! With this year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” students transformed into their favourite storybook explorers, heroes, and magical creatures — all ready to journey through the world of books.
The school came alive with colour and excitement as children proudly paraded in their fabulous costumes. From dangerous sharks and friendly dragons to enchanted wizards and witches and classic literary characters, every outfit was a testament to the imagination and enthusiasm of our students and families.
The hall was filled with smiles, cheers, and clapping as each class showcased their literary-inspired looks. Teachers joined in the fun too, with their variety of sheep characters, even Mr Green Sheep Galvin was found fast asleep on stage!
A huge thank you to our families for supporting costume creations, and to our staff for making this event so memorable. A special thank you to Bec Faddy for coordinating the books on display and Jane Egan for also assisting with the library decorating. The Book Parade reminded us all that when you open a book, you open the door to adventure. So keep reading, keep dreaming, and keep booking adventures!
Best wishes from the leadership team
