This week we had two days of special celebrations, one for St Joseph’s Feast day and another to celebrate Inclusion Day, World Down Syndrome Day and Harmony Day all in one!
St Joseph's Day
Our St Joseph’s Day celebrations on Thursday included a beautiful liturgy led by our Stage One students. The Gospel was about trusting in God, just as St Joseph did. Students shared how they know God is with them and why they feel welcome at the school and also sang beautifully to the hymns. Following this, our parents were invited to stay and enjoy a shared lunch in the playground and then students participated enthusiastically in peer support groups for fun Tabloid sports!
At the conclusion of the liturgy, we made a special presentation of a ‘news reel’ about our historic Rainforest Garden and the pathway of carved pavers that hundreds of past students leave behind when they graduate year 6. A few past students (now parents at the school) also made their tribute to what they remember of their time at school and the special Teachers that made their schooling so special. One of these Teachers, Mr Proudfoot was especially mentioned as he began the Rainforest Garden back in 1988 and still supports our paver process with our students each year. It is these people, the memories and traditions that make our school so special.

Harmony Day
Today (March 21st), we celebrated Harmony Day and World Down Syndrome Day!
For Harmony Day, students explored diverse cultures through various classroom activities. The colour for Harmony Day is orange, our orange wristbands remind us that "Everyone Belongs."
For World Down Syndrome Day, we rocked odd socks to celebrate uniqueness and raise awareness of Down syndrome, highlighting the beauty of our differences. We also enjoyed a special prayer at the afternoon assembly hosted by Year 3.
Both events reinforced our commitment to inclusion and acceptance. Thank you for celebrating with us!
