A Warm Welcome to Term 4!
Welcome back to all our families! We hope everyone had a wonderful school break and an opportunity to relax and enjoy some family time together. It's hard to believe we're already beginning Term 4-the year has certainly flown by!
This final term is always an exciting one, packed with events designed to enrich our students' learning and create lasting memories for the whole school community.
We kick off next Monday, with our Stage 2 and 3 students participating in the Todd Woodbridge Regional Finals and Socktober on Friday! Looking ahead, the remainder of the term is full of exciting events and activities, including the Summer Sports Trials, the Carnival of the Animals Whole School Theatre show, Daniel Morcombe Awareness Day and the Whole School Colour Run.
We encourage you to keep a close eye on your Compass notifications and our school newsletter for all the specific details, permission notes, and updates for these events.
We look forward to sharing another successful and memorable term together at Joey's!
Congratulations to Mrs Alfina Jackson
Back to Joey’s
This week we welcomed some of our ex-students “Back to Joey’s’ to visit their buddies, share memories of primary school and give year 6 some high school advice.
Thank you to Mrs Aldridge and Mrs Steep for organising this wonderful experience.
The students spoke so articulately about their memories of Primary school and plans for the future. We are very proud of the young people they have become.
We are praying for all students who are currently sitting their HSC and wish them the best of luck.

Speech and Drama at St Joseph's - EOI for 2026 and Feedback.
Dear Parents,
In Week 7, we had 45 students participate in the Speech and Drama Eisteddfod at Regional College. I was so proud of the drama students as they grew so much in confidence and lit up the stage with so much talent across a variety of areas of Speech and Drama.
The benefits of Speech and Drama are enormous and the skills learnt can last a lifetime. They include the development of:
confidence and self esteem, teamwork and collaboration skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, self expression, emotional regulation, creative, imaginative and critical thinking, improved literacy and vocabulary, reading and articulation skills, empathy, leadership skills and resilience.
Drama is currently offered as a lunch club once a week but with the large number of students wanting to participate this year, across many areas, I needed to take students nearly every lunch time, in an attempt to train each student and group. This is not sustainable looking forward to next year.
With the number of students growing each year, I am wondering if students would be interested in doing Drama as a weekly after school program. It would be held in our school hall from 3.00 - 4.30pm and cost approximately $10 per class.
These classes would work on skills in:
Reading aloud, delivering speeches, pronunciation, articulation, voice projection, play-building, improvisation, theatre sports, mime, monologues and characterisation, small group work, verse speaking, singing and acting in Musical theatre.
We would work towards the Speech and drama Eisteddfod in September, the school production and/or other school events and an end of year Christmas performance in December.
If this sounds like something you and your child/ren might be interested in, please indicate in the form:

Thank you,
Yours in Drama,
Leah Toole
Socktober 2025
On Friday, the 24th of October, students at St Joseph’s Primary School, Laurieton, will come to school in casual clothes and will be wearing their crazy socks. Students bring a gold coin donation to raise money for Catholic Mission, who are helping the country Zambia, this year. On the day classes will come down to the basketball court to kick penalties with soccer balls made out of rags, plastic bags and other materials. This is how kids make balls in third-world countries.
The Mission Team aims to raise $367. This money will help communities in Zambia to implement better harvesting and farming practices, to help families overcome hunger and poverty.
